Rebirth Of Nature

Vogue Hommes Japan #4 - Rebirth Of Nature @ StreetStylista.Guy

There's something about eco-themed editorials that really interest me. I think it takes quite some creativity to style these recyclable items so they don't end up looking like what they're suppose to (er..junk?).  Drink cans, bottles, lamps, switches, electric plugs, cassette tapes, spare parts, wire mesh, lead pipes, metal rods and an umbrella are just some of the items used by the fabulous Nicola Formichetti to style this eye-catching editorial in the latest issue of Vogue Hommes Japan.

Juun J

To be honest, my knowledge of menswear designers is not as comprehensive as I wish it was. I know right, such irony considering the nature of the blog. So, pardon the fact that I've only just chanced upon the designer, Juun J, whom I happen to think is quite brilliant.

Juun. J Fall/Winter 2010-11 RTW @ StreetStylista.Guy

I came across his Fall/Winter 2010/11 collection while blog surfing awhile back and loved alot of the pieces in the collection. The use of zippers in this collection was definitely one of the highlights for me. But that may also be due to the fact that I may have a teeny weeny obsession with zippers. Haha. I love how the clever use of zippers kinda created this double jacket look, what more with the use of two totally different, but came together well in an unexpected way fabrics.

Another thing I liked was how the outfits were styled. As a huge fan of layering, I thought the outfits were styled really well not only for the runway but also not forgetting to have some form of commercial appeal which we all know is what helps to sell the clothes to a wider audience.

There were also mini pocket pouches as an alternative to bags which were seen slung around the neck, hung around the waist and also sewn into jackets, coats & pants.

The patterned knits with hoods were also standout pieces from the collection.

I'm really excited to see future collections from this designer and if like me, you are also new to Juun J, you can/may wanna check out his past collections on his website.

Have a great weekend guys!
